Monday, Sept. 19

PHOTO DIARY ASSIGNMENT: Henri Cartier-Bresson was a hunter - looking for the right moment in the geometric composition. Position yourself in a dynamic composition (remember the multiple planes or dimensions of a photograph) and wait for the decisive moment. This could be of anything - just hunt down that moment. Above are a few examples of Bresson's work where that decisive moment's geometry is lovely!

Here is the MOMA exhibition of Bresson's work. There are some great audio features that accompany the photographs as well.

FOR MONDAY: Bring gloves to class - we will demo developing on Monday. Please read through the handouts that your received in class concerning development and depth of field. Be working on shooting your Time/Motion assignment. You will need a roll of film to start developing ASAP after that. The final prints and critique will most likely be due on October 5th looking at the calendar. The following class sessions are going to be work days after that. If you would like to use Wednesday, Sept. 21st as a work day to develop you are more than welcome. Art majors and minors will most likely be in the Pottery Workshop so normal class that day will be canceled. Our classroom assistant will be posting hours this coming week to help out with developing when I'm not there. Will let you know the schedule for that as soon as I get it. Happy shooting!
