8. STAGE / shot in the style of Eugene Atget (look for a stage and actors coming in and out) / 1 photo / black and white or color
9. DECISIVE MOMENT HUNTING / shot in the style of Henri Cartier Bresson (hunt for the decisive moment...set up shot in an interesting composition and wait - look for layers of geometry) / 1 photo / black and white

Final Assignment

FINAL ASSIGNMENT - Pick a photographer from this website....http://www.mocp.org/collections/mpp/. These are contemporary photographers working in the field of art photography. Please look through these and pick a photographer to mimic that shoots in a similar style of a subject that you would like to explore. Please be sure to write your design summary as an artist statement that mimics this site. You will turn in two photographs with your negatives and contact sheet for this final. It will be due at the time of the final slot for the class. We will critique only one image from these two assignments (best of story assignment and or best of landscape) during the final time slot. Also be thinking about getting your images around for the photo diary. I will have a complete list of photographs to put in there after break. HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE THANKSGIVING! I'm thankful for my camera and hopefully after this class you are too. Do yourself a favor and shoot your thanksgiving or what you are thankful for over break. (this is not a homework assignment...just something to remind yourself of how lucky you are:) Take care!

NEWS BULLETIN!!!

Hey guys!

BAD NEWS! The photo house is currently without heat. The facilities management has been called is looking into it but not sure if they can get the heat on over the weekend. Due to this our assignment has been postponed because I can't get new chemicals to replace old ones until the week after Thanksgiving. So in other words...you will have two assignments due at finals. This one of landscape (realized and abstracted) and your final assignment. I'm going to introduce this on Monday so if you would like you can shoot over break and following week. I'm sorry this not the ideal way to do this assignment but only way that we can get this done before break. We will be meeting in the resource room in the art department (walk in the art department past the gallery this is the room on the left past the cases with the ceramic pots in them. This is just so the facilities workers can work over there if they have to without dodging students. Again...thanks for your understanding and I'll see you on Monday.
